Military Resources

With each new school year, the partnership shared by the Oceanside Unified School District (OUSD) and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton (MCBCP) continues to grow and strengthen.  The collaborative effort put forth by each of these highly visible entities on behalf of the children and families of our military community is what makes the relationship of Oceanside’s two largest employers so valuable in so many ways.

Building and maintaining this unique relationship is of paramount importance to both the district and our military community and its leaders.  As part of our joint efforts, OUSD is pleased to provide this web resource to our military families.

Our three base schools – North Terrace, Santa Margarita and Stuart Mesa – are home to as many as 2,500 military children each school year.   The district is proud of the academic accomplishments of each site.    The State Board of Education has named each outstanding campus a California Distinguished School.  Only five-percent of the state’s schools receive this prestigious honor!

As the largest west coast expeditionary training facility, MCBCP remains one of the busiest installations under the direction of the Department of Defense.  The base covers more than 200 square miles and provides housing to more than 38,000 military family members.  A majority of the base housing units reside within OUSD attendance boundaries.

Whether you are newly stationed here in the North County, or you are a veteran of the base and our school community, the district hopes you will find this page a useful resource for you and your children.  Preparing your child to one day be college and career ready requires the work of both the district and our military parents.  OUSD is pleased to serve as the pathway for your child’s educational endeavors.
