San Luis Rey and Garrison Elementary Community Announcement
Posted 9/20/19

The principals of San Luis Rey and Garrison elementary schools announced to their students, families and staff Friday morning, Sept. 20, that the two schools are going to be uniting as one.

Students and staff from Garrison were moved to the San Luis Rey site this year due to sinkholes on the Garrison campus. Oceanside Unified School District (OUSD) and its board of education is still moving forward with accepting bids for repairs on Garrison site. In the meantime, Garrison and SLR will continue working together on the SLR site, but now as one school.

Starting Monday, Sept. 3, Mr. Rowe will be the interim principal of the school. Principal Camacho and Principal Dardis will be taking positions as Principals on Special Assignments supporting all of OUSD. They will continue working on-site through Sept. 27 to assist Mr. Rowe’s transition.

The district will be working with the community to recruit and select a new principal in the coming months to lead the newly unified school. More information about this process will be shared in the next few weeks through communication to families and through the district, SLR and Garrison websites.

The attached letter from Principal Camacho and Principal Dardis was given to all students on Friday, Sept. 20, and read in a call home to parents.
