Principal's Message

August 1, 2018

Dear Santa Margarita Community,

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you as your new principal of Santa Margarita School. It is truly an honor to become a part of the Santa Margarita family and community. Based on the conversations I have had with staff, students, and parents, I can tell that this is a special place.

I come to you with 17 years of experience as an educator. I spent ten years teaching students with special needs at both the elementary and middle school levels. More recently, I served as an Assistant Principal at Sullivan Middle School for the Bonsall Unified School District. Before I started my career in education, I served in both the Air Force and the California Highway Patrol. I bring with me a strong background in safety, security, and a love of learning.

I live in Bonsall with the love of my life, my wife, Erin. Our family includes our daughter Micaela and our grandchildren Raiden (10) and Zoey (8). We also have two dogs, a goat, a pot- belly pig and five chickens.

This year we are adding a Transitional Kindergarten classroom. Transitional Kindergarten, often referred to as TK, is an exciting educational opportunity for children who turn five between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2. Please contact our office if you would like more information about this program.

Our caring staff are here to support all aspects of your children's learning experience from their social and emotional needs to their academic and cognitive needs. Our teachers and staff are committed to creating a safe and dynamic environment that encourages students to embrace challenges, learn from their mistakes, and celebrate each other's successes.

This summer, I had the pleasure of getting to know the Santa Margarita office staff, PTSA, and many of our teachers. Mr. Hamby, our former principal, was also generous with his time and shared with me all of the wonderful aspects of this amazing school.

I look forward to learning about our school, our community, and familiarizing myself with the unique needs of our school. I believe that every child deserves a quality education, which can only happen when schools and families work together in the best interests of our children.

My personal goal is to provide your children with a relevant educational experience that will ensure they have the skills, knowledge, and understanding to meet the challenges they will face in our ever-changing world. This is why I love the work I do.

As your principal, my door will always be open, and I welcome your input. Please feel free to drop in, or make an appointment to discuss your concerns, suggestions, and ideas. Together we will make this year the best it can be!

Frank and Erin
