    Welcome Principal Camacho

    Dear Families and Community Members,

I would like to introduce myself as the Interim Principal for Santa Margarita School.

As an educator who views effective leadership as a means of providing opportunities and changing students’ lives, I am looking forward to serving the students, staff, and community of Santa Margarita School.

My over 10 years of administrative experience at both the elementary and secondary has given me the opportunity to demonstrate my leadership skills at all levels. I have worked collaboratively with teachers, staff, and the community to promote student success.

My belief that education has the power to transform communities has compelled me to include parents and the community at large as meaningful partners in education. I have built strong relationships with community and business partners as a means to address basic areas of need so students can focus on their academics. I have secured several grants and donations, which include Walmart, Feeding San Diego, and The San Diego Food Bank to name a few of the over 20 different community resources.

My commitment to enhancing every student’s educational experience have been demonstrated by my continued learning and dedication to making decisions that positively affect students’ lives. As a dynamic, passionate, principle-driven leader, I look forward to having the opportunity to work alongside other enthusiastic educators at Santa Margarita School.

My wife Krista and I have two beautiful children, Diego age 7, and Daisy Age 3. I have a 24-year-old son Dominic Jr. and a 26-year-old daughter named Frankie. Lastly, Dominic Jr. and his lovely wife Cynthia made us Grandparents to baby Zayden. I look forward to meeting all of you soon as my door is always open.

    Honor Roll Sign
Santa Margarita Named to Honor Roll

Oceanside, CA, June 4, 2019 – Santa Margarita today announced that it has been named to the 2018 - 2019 Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll for its high achievement in student success. The program, sponsored by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE), is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and districts that are improving student outcomes. Santa Margarita is one of 1,834 public schools in California to be recognized.

The 2018 - 2019 Honor Roll is developed by Educational Results Partnership (ERP), a nonprofit organization that applies data science to help improve student outcomes and career readiness. ERP maintains the nation’s largest database on student achievement and utilizes this data to identify higher-performing schools and districts. Schools that receive the ERP Honor Roll distinction have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time, and a reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.  For high schools, the ERP Honor Roll recognition also includes measures of college readiness.

“We are honored to be recognized by educational and business leaders as an ERP Honor Roll School,” said Frank English, school principal. “We are continually striving to increase academic achivement and improve educational outcomes for all of our students. Our teachers and adminstrators are fully commited and we are thrilled to see their hard work and dedication produce such positive results.”

“The Honor Roll is the only school recognition program in California based solely on objective achievement data,” said Marilyn Reznick, ERP’s board chair. “Schools don’t even know they’ve earned the honor until we tell them. Our goal is to guide other educators to data-informed best practices for raising student achievement.”

“ERP is all about improving educational equity and promoting career readiness for all students, regardless of their family income, background or ZIP code,” said James Lanich, Ph.D., ERP president and CEO.  “These Honor Roll schools and districts are living proof that our students can succeed when schools are committed to removing educational obstacles and accelerating student success. By focusing attention on these bright spots among our schools, we hope to change the conversation from ‘what’s wrong’ to ‘what’s working,’ and encourage others to replicate their success.”

In California, the ERP Honor Roll is supported by numerous businesses and organizations, including the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE) Macy’s, Enterprise Holding Inc., the Auto Club of Southern California and, Wells Fargo.
